Ani Hoover

Originally from St. Joseph, Missouri (USA), Ani Hoover attended undergraduate school at Missouri State University (Springfield, MO, USA) went on to receive a MFA from American University in the Washington DC. Hoover lived in Baltimore, MD (USA) for a number of years before making her home in Buffalo, New York (USA) in 2002.

 

Between the years 2002 and 2010 Hoover’s work concentrated mostly on painting. Today Hoover’s studio practice includes not only painting, but sculpture, textile art, installation and drawing. She likes to use recycled and readily available materials to create artwork.

 

Hoover’s work has been exhibited widely in the area including at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the University of Buffalo, Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center and Startlight Studio and Gallery.

You can find Hoover’s work in the collections of M & T Bank, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Burchfield-Penney Art Center, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the University of Buffalo’s Anderson Gallery and in numerous private collections across the country.

 

Hoover enjoys presenting her work to young people. Among her recent teaching assignments she enjoyed working in the Buffalo Public Schools as part of their Buffalo Arts Teacher Collaborative and at Autism Services as a teaching artist.
